ISABELLA DE MICHELIS DI SLONGHELLO

CDP & ErnieApp FOUNDER E CEO ERNIEAPP LTD, CDP VENTURE CAPITAL SGR, BOARD MEMBER

Isabella founded ErnieApp in 2017, one year ahead of GDPR entering into force, with the conviction that only a user-free-consent centric internet model could resolve the conundrum of how privacy, innovation and competition in a digital connected society heading toward AI and IoT could coexist peacefully. In 2019 the Beta version of the PKM software was released on iOS and Android platforms. English and Italian versions were published at the same time. French localization is announced for Spring 2022. App is also available on Huawei App Gallery. PKM unique downloads have exceeded 100’000 with users from Europe, US and LATAM, of any age and gender.

What is the app for? ErnieApp is an innovative privacy service for consumers and businesses to adopt as a new “trust paradigm’. The app which is very user friendly and easy to use, leverages a powerful “engine” called ‘Privacy Knowledge Manager’ (‘PKM’) which empowers users to control their data permissions on third parties in a very effective, dynamic and measurable way, unilaterally. The app allows users to audit (READ) and manage (WRITE) privacy settings on 3rd parties, from a single dashboard (eg on social networks and any other authenticated digital service), making it very easy for any user to ‘control’ the data flow/data sharing on the go. ErnieApp is the engineering of art 6a of GDPR or as it can be summarized as the first ever ‘consumer’ consent management platform coming to market. It also enables users to (DELETE) their data and will also support the (TRANSFER) capability leveraging the regulatory changes which have been adopted in Europe under the digital sovereignty policy (Data Service Act, Data Market Act, Data Governance Act, Data Act, eprivacy, AI Regulation). With ErnieApp users do themselves what they want without having to give any proxy or delegated power to an intermediary.

Beyond the privacy (and forthcoming data portability) functionalities, the mobile app is also providing an educational gamification tool to grow user awareness about privacy and their data value. The user is taken via the game to understand how companies collect data and process data (and metadata), for which granular purpose and how they compete in the digital space for user’s data.
